More Writing: "I Want To Start a STEM Project Based On My Ideas" + "I Want to Talk About My STEM Ideas"
I'm sure I've said before that I think it's important for there to be a place, on the internet, where people can talk about their proof ideas for big important open problems. The thing is, that is true, but there are other big things that are missing in the STEM ecosystem, too.
In particular, I think the world would be a better place if there were a venue, perhaps an internet venue, where people can talk about their ideas for big, important STEM projects. When I lived in Maryland, there was a place called "Baltimore Tech" where people could discuss their ideas for technology starts and try to get people interested in them. I think that is a great organization to have, and it's a step in the right direction...although it's not enough.
There need to be places where people can discuss big ideas for helping other people, in terms of non-profits and charities. I used to go to meetings for Students Helping Honduras in college, and that was cool...but there was no "brainy non-profit place" to go if you had cool, innovative ideas about how to help the world, and wanted to think about how to put them into action.
The world of "intellectual brainstorming and discussion of big philanthropic ideas" shouldn't be *competitive*. It should be collaborative, and it should be easy for people to find a place, online or in person, to go to share a big idea and get some feedback on how to the help the world with it.
