Analyzing: Were My Psych Doctors From the Past Really Signaling Me the End Date? Intent and Capability.
I am aware of how private and public key cryptography work. The question is, is it possible for a psych doctor to understand how a mentally ill person thinks, and how neurotypical people who are not psychologists or psychiatrists think, well enough to send a message to the patient without being found out?
The other question is, would doctors intend to do that, ever?
My sense of it is, yes, a skilled psychiatrist or psychologist could figure out a way to understand the brain of a mentally ill person well enough to send him/her a message that other people would not listen to. The first question is, "Does the doctor want to tell the patient?" The answer might be, "yes." Partly out of a sense of humanity. Partly, perhaps, because if the patient's wild ordeal gets famous enough, the doctor could enjoy the luxury of being in a movie, and could possibly use the publicity to either increase rates for psych appointments, or, to get the possibility of writing a book. I don't know Dr. Steg's research/practice interests too well, but Dr. Glasser has studied gifted ADHD extensively. More stature for excellence in assisting patients with critical though "unusual" needs wouldn't hurt either doctor...and I don't think Dr. Steg or Dr. Glasser would mind me saying this.
I think the idea is, imagine a hypothetical naysayer--a powerful debater within an organization who wants to say, "No, there is no secret message in this media." The key is, there is fuel for that perspective, if someone wants to believe it enough and doesn't think about it too hard. In Dr. Glasser's photo, there is an image of 4 books oriented one way, and then 1 book oriented another way--4-1, perhaps--and then a collection of 3 pencils in a cup. An arrogant and unthinking person in an organization could argue, "Why not 4-13, April 13? That number is in there, for sure." The key that the patient might realize is, after thinking about it, the clock is the flexible, ideal way to publish any date...you can signal any calendar date, month-day, using a 24-hour clock. You can even do it with just a 12-hour clock, as in this photo!
So the comment is, "yes," the doctors CAN do it. The key is to anticipate the reactions of neurotypical people, whom the doctors also understand. There MIGHT be a few people who are neurotypical who can figure it out, perhaps aided by this (I claim) unobjectionable essay...but generally, such people would want to remain rather quiet about the belief, in case they have a psych exam with their organization, such as the police or an IC or other government organization.
And I think the doctors would want to. As I know, it feels good to feel conscientious and do the right thing. It also feels good to be ONE OF THE ONLY PEOPLE IN THE WORLD who can and will do the right thing.
So the comment is, as I learned at ABSG Consulting, including from people I didn't like but can still give credit to by mentioning ABSG Consulting, intent and capability is a good system for assessing what the doctors might be trying to say, using techniques and ideas that are beyond simple private/public key cryptology. I am confident that the end date is July 30, or perhaps July 31. Maybe it's sooner. I think I have the exact date. Maybe someone in the bureaucracy will object and end the craziness sooner...but maybe that is somehow impossible. That is something I don't understand.
